Mr Kabilan Elangovan

Mr Kabilan Elangovan is an AI Scientist at the SingHealth AI Office, where he supports translational AI initiatives across Singapore’s largest public healthcare cluster. His work focuses on developing and evaluating machine learning systems that are clinically reliable, trustworthy, and practical for real-world healthcare applications. Kabilan has expertise in medical imaging, explainable artificial intelligence, automated machine learning, and large language models. His current research focuses on developing robust and deployment-oriented approaches for model safety, explainability, data provenance, referenceability, and the evaluation of AI systems in high-stakes healthcare environments. He is also passionate about AI education and capability-building. Kabilan contributes to institutional AI literacy programmes, including SingHealth’s AI101 in Healthcare series, and regularly mentors multidisciplinary teams comprising clinicians, engineers, researchers, and students. As an active contributor to the medical AI community, he has co-authored more than 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications. His research has appeared in leading medical and digital health journals, including Nature Medicine, Cell Reports Medicine, and npj Digital Medicine. Through his work, he aims to bridge technical innovation and clinical practice, supporting the responsible translation of AI into meaningful healthcare impact.
