Dr Lee heads Temasek Trust's Health Collaborative where he supports efforts to advance health and well-being in Asia. The Collaborative brings together public, private, philanthropic and research partners to connect science, policy, financing and implementation, and translate promising ideas into scalable health solutions. Previously, Dr Lee headed Temasek Foundation's Pandemic Preparedness Team that develops and executes philanthropic outreach and projects for preparedness and countermeasures for future pandemics. His office supports regional networking of scientific communities and health policy makers, and capacity building through science and technology sharing. It also catalyses efforts for biobanking to promote data and material sharing in scientific networks and surveillance of emerging infections and neglected tropical diseases with pandemic potential.
Dr Lee was Chief Scientist of Ministry of Home Affairs before joining Temasek Foundation. He was instrumental in building national S&T capabilities in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defence for national security during his career with the Ministries of Defence and Home Affairs. He graduated with PhD in Chemistry from National University of Singapore in 1990 and was designated as Chartered Chemist in 1994 by UK Royal Society of Chemistry.
