Dr Eugene Gan is the Senior Director of the Singapore Clinical Research Institute (SCRI), where he leads research operations and national clinical trials coordination. Under this leadership, SCRI serves as Singapore's national coordinating body for clinical trials, working closely with public healthcare institutions, industry partners, and regulatory stakeholders to strengthen the country's clinical research ecosystem. The institute supports over 40 active clinical studies at any given time, and provides comprehensive trial services − including project management, data management, monitoring and statistical analysis − for investigator initiated trials (IITs).
Prior to joining SCRI, Eugene held several leadership roles at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), including Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Experimental Drug Development Centre (EDDC), Singapore's national platform for preclinical drug discovery and development. He also brings industry experience from his tenure as a Research Scientist at Eli Lilly & Company (2007-2010).
Eugene holds a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from Duke University, where his research was focused on the molecular mechanisms of apoptosis in cancer. He also earned a B.Sc. (Honours) and M.Sc. in Biochemistry from Indiana University.
