Adj A/Prof Yap is a Senior Consultant Haematologist and Head of Laboratory Medicine at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Trained in Internal Medicine and Haematology, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (Haematology), with research training in epidemiology at Leiden University Medical Centre. His clinical focus is benign haematology, particularly thrombosis and haemostasis, and he is a past President of the Singapore Society of Haematology.
Adj A/Prof Yap has extensive clinical trials experience as Principal Investigator across numerous phase 1–3 studies in paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria, immune thrombocytopenia, autoimmune haemolytic anaemia and haemophilia. As Chief Medical Officer of the Advanced Cell Therapy and Research Institute, Singapore (ACTRIS), he provides medical and scientific leadership across advanced cell therapy trials.
