Dr Shen Liang is the Deputy Director of Biostatistics at SCRI.
With more than two decades of experience spanning theoretical and applied statistics, Dr Shen advances clinical research and healthcare innovation through rigorous methodology, collaborative leadership, and strategic guidance.
Dr Shen earned her PhD in Statistics from the National University of Singapore (NUS), where her doctoral work focused on generalized linear and additive models with weighted distributions. She also holds a Master of Science in Statistics (by research) from NUS and a Master of Science in Stochastic Processes from East China Normal University, establishing a strong foundation in probability, stochastic analysis, and advanced statistical theory.
Prior to her current role, Dr Shen led the Biostatistics Unit at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, where she supervised a team of biostatisticians and provided expert consultation to medical researchers. Her work spanned the design and analysis of clinical trials across all phases, epidemiological studies, and real-world evidence research.
A committed collaborator, she bridges statistical theory and clinical practice to ensure robust and reliable research outcomes. She has co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and is an experienced educator, having conducted biostatistics workshops and served as the principal lecturer and module coordinator for core biostatistics courses in the PhD and MSc programs.
In addition to her academic and institutional leadership, Dr Shen serves as a statistical advisor and member of the Medical Advisory Committee and Product Vigilance Advisory Committee at Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA).
