Associate Professor Daniel Ting is a Senior Consultant Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. He holds dual roles as Director of the SingHealth AI Office and Chief Data and Digital Officer at SNEC, while also heading AI and Digital Innovation at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI). He is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor and Innovation Mentor at Stanford University, and a former US-ASEAN Fulbright Scholar at Johns Hopkins University.
Prof Ting has authored over 500 publications, with 50 appearing in top-tier journals such as JAMA, NEJM, The Lancet, and Nature Medicine. He holds an H-index of 80 and has accumulated over 38,000 citations. He has secured SGD $225 million in research funding across AI and digital health initiatives.
Internationally, he chairs the AI and Digital Innovation Committee for the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology and serves on committees at the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is an Editorial Board Member of Lancet Digital Health and Ophthalmology, among others.
His accolades include the President's Science and Technology Young Scientist Award (2024), the Rosario Brancato Award (2025), and recognition in the World's Top 2% Scientists list by Stanford University. He is consistently ranked among the top three globally for deep learning research in ophthalmology by Expertscape in the last 4 years.
